uscmcintosh.jpgTucson, AZ – Fresh off their upset of an overrated Colorado, the Arizona Wildcats welcomed the Trojans to town. Led by Heisman candidate Joe Atkinson, the USC Trojans looked like a formidable opponent for the Wildcats. However, a strong game by the Wildcats defense and the absolute dominance of Redwood Haynes iced a close victory for the Wildcats.

After an incredible first half where Redwood Haynes ran for 100 yards and one of the greatest rushing plays ever seen in Tucson, the Wildcats went up 7-0 and looked like they would dominate USC again. However, the Trojans started to overload the box to shut down Redoowd and force Casey Cook to pass. It worked well as USC started scoring and took a halftime lead of 10 points.

Casey started to get shook as the game wore on and threw 2 interceptions and it looked like Brent Robinson was going to be needed to keep the Wildcats in the game. But in spite of his picks, Casey used his legs to run the option and pick up some key third and longs with his legs.

“I had to win this game,” said Cook who went 8/16 – 196 2 TDs, 2 INT. “Lindsay [Lohan] said she would be watching from a bar in West Hollywood so I wanted to do it for her.”

When presented with this fact, Chad Horton said “She wasn’t watching.”

Going into the fourth quarter, Arizona had a three point lead with the ball on the 50 yard line, and Redwood Haynes who had been effectively shut down in the 2nd and 3rd quarter stepped it up and just kept getting first down after first down until Jay Gibson booted the game icing field goal with no time left.

“I grew up idolizing thugs from South Central,” said Gibson. “And this is what you send to Tucson? These ain’t thugs! DUB-C! Where we keep it real, that’s where the real thugs at. These is bromo-thugs.”

Haynes finished the game with 37 carries for 178 yards and 1 touchdown. And the past two seasons have been a lesson for all of college football-you not only need a fast running back, you need one with outstanding stamina and durability.uscwins.jpg

But the player of the game for the Wildcats was Mike McIntosh who had 3 catches for 98 yards and 2 TDs, including one where he absolutely punked a USC defender in one on one coverage.
