Defese

hurst2015stanford.jpgTucson, AZ – With Jason Weaver in the NFL and Marcus Holbert still developing, Maurice Hurst, the former Wildcat, showed his old team that he was truly the best reciever on the field.  He had five catches for 211 yards, and THREE touchdown receptions.

“Yeah he had a good game,” said 5th year senior and starting tackle Josh Diles.  “But he’s a nerd now, and they still got beat, so what?  Have you seen the girls at Stanford?  They are the type of girls who win beauty pageants for being “different,” and “original”.  What a jerk, Wildcats rule.”

It appeared that the Arizona defensive backs let Hurst run wild intentionally so that he could get one last taste of Arizona ladies.

“It was pretty nice of them,” said Hurst after the game. “I forgot how good looking these girls were.  I’m having the night of my life, who cares that we lost!”poststanfordwin2015.jpg

Although, Howard Coleman decided to intercept 2 passes just to let the crowd know that this defense was not weak.  For that he was named Pac-Ten defensive player of the week.

The game also featured Casey Cook really showing off his arm as he passed for 393 yards and five touchdowns.

“It was pretty good,” said Casey after the game.  “I can’t believe they let me throw that much, but I guess we were winning by a lot so there wasn’t any pressure.  I’m not good with pressure, especially when I’m, ah, not, uh, you know.”

Brian Haynes also rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns.

mcintoshucla2013.jpgTucson, AZ – With some prized recruits in attendance, the Arizona Wildcats did not disappoint. Though the recruits were all defensive, after watching this game, it’s impossible to think that any other school would be as fun for a WR or a QB.

Dane Wright had yet another incredible game, he was 15/22 for 332 yards, 4 TDs and 1 INT, though the INT was a first half hailmary that got picked off. But what impressed everyone was that Dane spread the ball around, took sacks, and did not force throws. Going into the final games of the season, he looks like an NFL quarterback playing against Junior High practice squads. Though UCLA was exceptionally quick on defense, they were not quick enough to get to Wright who kept eluding them and finding open recievers.

“A little bit of luck,” said Wright after the game. “And a lot of help from the O-line and my recievers. Especially Mike McIntosh, that guy is going to be a superstar one day.”

McIntosh (pictured) made a beautiful catch in the endzone for a TD and finished the game game with four catches for 75 yards and a TD, including one where he went over the middle, got hit very hard and held on. Something Jason Weaver has been strongly criticized for in the season.

“Are you serious?” asked Weaver after the game. “My drops? I had six catches for 215 yards and 2 TDs today. And you want to talk about drops? That’s like complaining that your new Ferrari doesn’t have enough trunk space.”uclaint.jpg

On the other side of the ball, the Arizona defense continues to make a case that they might be the strongest in school history. With a pick on the first play, and two more during the game, the defense was aggressive, fast, and very talented. Of course, Kevin Bonds, AGAIN, was in the middle of everything. Six tackles, 2 TFL and a sack. After the UCLA QB threw his second pick, some fans and boosters in the crowd were seen holding up a sign that said “He’s no Josh Zelman,” referencing the superstar QB who is now plays in the NFL. Many think next year that opposing quarterbacks will be faced with the memory of Dane Wright, who is setting the bar for excellence in Quarterbacking in the desert.

“Hey, I’m lucky. Everyone is so scared of John and Patrick that they leave me open. I’m just glad that I’m not getting stiff armed and looking like a bitch.”

Basically, it’s all the info that I already wrote in recruiting reports, in one easy place.

This year has been a problematic one for Arizona’s defense, they have been getting almost no pressure on the QB. There are rumblings around the Wildcat program to switch to a 3-4 to take advantage of the wealth of talent at MLB. Please comment.
